In 2002 he graduated from Gnessin Russian Academy of Music (a class of the National actor of Russia K.Lissovsky). From 1994 till 1999 he was the soloist of The Alexandrov Academic Decorated with the Order of the Red Banner Ensemble of Song and Dance. In 1999 he became the soloist of The Moscow State Academic Chamber Musical Theater under the leadership of B.Pokrovsky where performed the following parts like Gritsko in "Sorochinsky fair" by M. Musorgsky (for 4 years he was the only performer of this part. This performance got the “Gold Mask” award); Luigi ("Raincoat" by G. Puccini); Don Ottavio ("Don Juan" by W.Mozart); Ferrando ("Cosi fan tutte" by W.A. Mozart); Sextus ("Julius Caesar in Egypt" by G.Gendel. This performance got the “Gold Mask” award ); Lyuchentsio ("Taming obstinate" by V. Shebalin). In the troupe of the theatre he toured much abroad, also in Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy and Japan.
Alexander Zaharov constantly cooperates with the best orchestras of Moscow and takes part in concert performances of rarely performed operas. In his repertoire there are such roles as Charles the IVth («The Maid of Orleans» by P.Tchaikovsky), Bayan (“Ruslan and Lyudmila” by M. Glinka), Kashchei («Kashchei The Immortal» by N. Rimsky-Korsakov), Benediktov ("The Last days" by A.Nikolaev), the Devil ("The Night before Christmas" by N. Rimsky-Korsakov), etc., and the tenor parts in the symphonic works of L.Beethoven, B.Britten, and G. Verdi. He is the only performer of part of Alyosha Popovic in A.Grechaninov's opera "Dobrynya Nikitich". He gives solo concerts with the various orchestras of folk instruments in the cities of Russia: Academic orchestra of Russian folk instruments of Osipov (Moscow), with whom he toured in more than 30 cities of Russia and Europe, as well as in the United States, the ensemble «Russia», «Metelitsa» (St. Petersburg), «Virtuosi of Kuban» (Krasnodar), the State Russian Orchestra «Malakhit» (Chelyabinsk), orchestra′s of Lipetsk, Rostov, Smolensk, Maikop, Magadan, Ivanovo, Kostroma, etc
Like the invited soloist of the Bolshoi theater of Russia he performed more than 20 parties, among which: Simpleton and Podjyachy ("Boris Godunov" and "Hovanshchina" by M. Musorgsky), Crummy little man ("Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensky District" by D. Shostakovich), Platon Karatayev ("War and peace" by S. Prokofiev), Gvidon ("Fairy tale on the Golden Cockerel" by N. Rimsky-Korsakov), etc. In the troupe of the theatre he toured to London (“Covent Garden”), Opera Festival in Savonlinna (Finland), 55-th Summer Festival in Lyublyana (Slovenia), also to Latvia and Greece. He constantly sings Lensky (“Eugene Onegin” by P.Tchaikovsky) in different opera theatres in Russia. In 2011 Alexander made his debut in Berlin in “Requiem” by G.Verdi. Since 2007 Alexander Zaharov is the member of art-project “The Tenors of the XXI century”.
